Structural Integrity Inspections and Remedial Services of

Bridges (including Railroad Bridges), Power Plants (excluding Nuclear Power Plants), Oil & Gas Pipelines, Dams, Schools, Airport Towers, Hospitals, Infrastructure, and numerous other structures and facilities:  Construction Defects and Seismic Hazards Determination, plus Repair of Construction Defects, Foundation Failure, and Seismic & Landslide Hazards, and Reconstruction of a Variety of Structures and Facilities, along with Design and Construction of New Structures, Facilities, and Infrastructure --- Conducted by Civil and Construction Engineers, Seismologists, Geotechnical Engineers, and others

There is an Extreme Need for Structural Inspections and Reconstruction Services because of:

1.  Damages by recent storms, earthquakes, and tsunamis.

  • Hurricane Irene (Aug 2011), the Virginia earthquake (Aug 2011), Tropical Storm Lee (Sep 2011), the heavy early-season snowstorm (Oct 2011), and the Oklahoma earthquakes (Nov 2011).

  • The giant Japan (2011) and Indonesian (2004) earthquakes and tsunamis, plus the catastrophic quakes in Haiti, China, Turkey, Chile, New Zealand, and Myanmar, which altogether killed more than 500,000 people.

  • The 2011 tornado outbreaks in the central and eastern United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities.

  • Hurricane Katrina, which resulted in the great New Orleans levee failures, with more than 1,800 fatalities.

  • The 2011 floods on the Missouri, Ohio, and Mississippi Rivers and their tributaries, including major levee breaks.

  • The 2010 collapse of the Metrodome roof in Minnesota under the weight of heavy snow.

2.  Recent structural failures, resulting from aging of our infrastructure.

  • The fatal collapse of the I-35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minnesota, with 13 dead and many injured.

  • The fatal Gulf of Mexico oil rig explosion and the resulting massive oil spill.

  • The fatal natural gas pipeline explosions in San Bruno, CA and Allentown, PA, plus other pipeline explosions.

  • The fatal coal and silver mine collapses in the U.S. and New Zealand, and the near-fatal copper mine collapse in Chile, plus other mine collapses.

3.  General aging and deterioration of our infrastructure (some of it hidden).

Recent History Channel programs, entitled The Crumbling of America  and  Inspector America, and several programs on ABC, CBS, and FOX highlighted the many threats to our lives and our way of life posed by deteriorating bridges, highways, dams, levees, natural gas pipelines, oil refineries, and other infrastructure.

President Obama, in his September 8, 2011 Jobs Speech before Congress, urged funds of $447 billion, of which a sizeable portion should go to repair, reconstruction, and replacement of aging and deteriorating bridges, highways, and other infrastructure in the United States.  Earlier speeches urged at least $75 billion specifically  for bridge and highway restoration.

Structural Integrity Solutions, Inc. offers independent structural integrity investigations and inspections for the determination of construction defects and seismic hazards in bridges (including railroad bridges), oil refineries, natural gas pipelines, power plants (excluding nuclear power plants), dams, transmission lines, coal mines, schools, airports, and  other structures in the U.S. and around the world.

We also arrange for repair, retrofit, rehabilitation, restoration, reconstruction, and replacement services for many of the structures found to be defective or in danger of collapse.  In addition, we offer design of new structures and facilities.

In particular, railroad bridges in the United States are subject to required annual inspections for structural integrity and load capacity by the Federal Railroad Administration's 49 CFR, Parts 213 and 237:   Bridge Safety Standards.  To view the text of these requirements, go to:  http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/pdf/E9-19367.pdf
